15th March, 2013
Furry Creek 20 Year AnniversaryFurry Creek Golf & Country Club marks its 20th anniversary this year, and in celebration the golf club is offering green fee specials and promotions all season long, starting on opening day March 15, 2013.

When booking online, Promo Code ‘TWENTY’ provides 20% off daily green fees, along with vouchers for 20% off an appetizer in the Sea to Sky Grill, and 20% off regular priced merchandise in the Golf Shop. Furry Creek will also be hosting an Anniversary Golf Event on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 to commemorate the official opening on July 31, 1993; more information to follow on this event.

“The 20th Anniversary Promo Code is just our way of saying thanks for celebrating with us, and we invite everyone to stay tuned for upcoming festivities including a fun day on the course complete with food and plenty of prizes,” said General Manager Paul Nijjer. “Furry Creek has a great history behind it, and this year is about honoring that, while also looking ahead to future successes.”

In 1893, Oliver Furry, a trapper turned prospector, saw immense mining possibilities in the area around the creek that now bears his name. The following mining boom saw a flurry of activity in the vicinity which has since developed into a series of communities through the area, and in 1990 initial developments for the golf course began. Accommodating the existing environment, enhancing the natural habitat, and developing a bio-engineered community was an integral part of the master plan.

Located between Vancouver and Whistler on the scenic Sea to Sky Highway, Furry Creek is best known as “BC’s most scenic golf course,” and is one of the most beautifully landscaped playgrounds in the province. With its breathtaking beauty, dramatic play and first-class facilities, Furry Creek consistently delivers a world class experience in a spectacular West Coast setting. Designed by renowned golf course architect Robert Muir Graves, the course soars to 350 feet above sea level and descends to the shore of Howe Sound at the signature 14th Hole. Hemingway Nelson Architects created the award winning clubhouse that sits majestically between the ocean and mountain terrain.

In addition to being honoured with such awards as "#1 BC's Best Scenery,” “#2 Best Course in BC” and “BC's Best Par 3 (Hole 14),” Furry Creek has a 4 star rating for "Best Places to Play" with Golf Digest and was featured in Globe and Mail’s “Best 10 Holes to Remember” (signature 14 hole). The property has gained star recognition by being featured in numerous commercials and films. Most memorably, the 9th hole served as the backdrop for the famous fight scene between Adam Sandler and Bob Barker in “Happy Gilmore.”

Furry Creek Golf and Country Club was acquired by Burrard International / GolfBC Group in October 1999. The addition of Furry Creek enabled GolfBC to provide an even broader, more diverse golfing experience, and to continue delivering the quality experience golfers have come to expect from Burrard International & GolfBC courses.
